Emily Orling assisted federal research entomologists in quantifying bark beetle infestations across north-central Washington in areas affected by the 2014 Carlton Complex and the 2015 Wolverine fires.  Emily sorted insects collected in Lindgren funnel traps and identified bark beetles including Western Pine Beetle, Douglas Fir Beetle, and Ips.  Emily also self-trained and became proficient in identifying members of the Siricidae (woodwasps) to species using a specialized technical key for the family.
